Introduction : A new variant of SARS- CoV-2 virus [Variant Under Investigation (VUI)-20212/01] has been reported by the Government of United Kingdom (UK) to World Health Organization (WHO). The number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 has crossed the 37L mark on the fifteenth day of the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 is 37,06,157 (as at 7 pm today), as per the provisional report. Total of 68,830 sessions have been held so far. 5,143 sessions were held till 7 pm today. 2,06,130 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7 pm today. India’s total Active Caseload continues to manifest sustained downward movement. It has dropped to 1.71 lakh (1,71,686) today. The present active caseload now consists of just 1.60% of India’s Total Positive Cases. India’s caseload per million population is one of the lowest when compared globally. It stands at 7,768. 1216. Update on COVID-19 Vaccination. 20.29 lakh Healthcare Workers Vaccinated across the country - Ministry of Health and Family Welfare
The countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully on the eleventh day. In view of Republic Day celebrations across the country, limited number of sessions in limited States were conducted today. As per the provisional till 7 pm today , 5,615 beneficiaries were vaccinated in five states. These are: Andhra Pradesh (9), Karnataka (429), Rajasthan (216), Tamil Nadu (4926) and Telangana (35). 194 sessions were held till 7 pm today. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 has crossed 20.29 lakh today. The countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully on the tenth day in the States and UTs. The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID19 has crossed 19.5 lakh today. A total of 19,50,183 beneficiaries (till 7.10 pm today) were vaccinated through 35,785 sessions, as per the provisional report. 3,34,679 beneficiaries were vaccinated through 7,171 sessions till 7.10 pm today, the tenth day of nationwide COVID19 vaccination. India’s active caseload has fallen to 1.84 lakh (1,84,182) today. The share of Active Cases in the total Positive Cases has further shrunk to 1.73%. More than 31,000 healthcare workers have been vaccinated in five states on the ninth day of the massive countrywide COVID-19 vaccination program. 31,466 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 7.30 pm today in these States viz. Haryana (907), Karnataka (2,472), Punjab (1,007), Rajasthan (24,586) and Tamil Nadu (2,494). 693 sessions were held till 6.30 pm today. The Union Territory of Lakshadweep has reported its first ever case of COVID-19 on 18.01.2021. The index case is a traveler who had come to Lakshadweep from Kochi in Kerala on 4th January 2021 by a ship. The case had reported to hospital with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19 and was tested positive. In a landmark achievement, India’s total recovered cases have leaped over the Active caseload by more than one crore today. India’s total Active Caseload continues to exhibit a sustained downward movement. It has significantly dropped to 2.54 lakh (2,54,254 ) today. This is the lowest after 179 days.
