The cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country exceeded 20.54 Cr (20,54,51,902) as per the 7 pm provisional report today.
11,76,300 beneficiaries of the age group 18-44 years received their first dose of COVID vaccine today and cumulatively 1,51,52,040 across 37 States/UTs since the start of Phase-3 of the vaccination drive. 1725. Transporter of Oxygen Containers to Dubai by IAF - Ministry of Defence
The heavy lift transport fleet of IAF has been airlifting empty cryogenic oxygen tankers to their filling stations in India since 22 April 2021, so that they may be filled and transported to their destinations by road or rail. The same activity is now being undertaken at international destinations.
An IL-76 aircraft of the IAF has airlifted 03 empty cryogenic containers from Jamnagar to Al Maktoum, Dubai. Indian Oil Corporation Ltd has coordinated for these containers which will be filled up with Liquid Medical Oxygen at Dubai and brought back by ship to India. A 100-bed make-shift COVID treatment centre opened today at BPCL’s Kochi Refinery operated school, adjacent to its premises, in Ambalamugal, Kerala. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), a ‘ Maharatna ’ PSU under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India, will provide free Oxygen, power and water to the Centre. An anti-COVID-19 therapeutic application of the drug 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) has been developed by Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (INMAS), a lab of Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Laboratories (DRL), Hyderabad. Clinical trial results have shown that this molecule helps in faster recovery of hospitalised patients and reduces supplemental oxygen dependence. 1607. Railway mobilises Additional Covid Care Coaches for use in States of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra - Ministry of Railways
Strengthening the capabilities of the nation in the united fight against Covid, the Ministry of Railways has, amongst its multi-pronged initiatives, deployed nearly 4000 Isolation coaches with almost 64000 beds. To work concurrently with the States and in a bid to reach out as swiftly as possible, the Railway has drawn a de-centralised plan of action empowering zones and divisions to work out their Memorandum of Agreement for cohesive action. 1606. Production of Medical Oxygen from modified Industrial Nitrogen Plants - Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change
Considering the COVID-19 pandemic situation and to further augment availability of oxygen formedical purposes in the country, the Central Government had asked Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), which hascomprehensivedatabaseof industrial units,toidentify theindustries having sparenitrogenplants and explore the feasibility of converting of existing Nitrogen plants to produce oxygen.CPCB with the help of State Pollution Control Boards (SPCBs) have identified such potentialindustries, wherein existing Nitrogen generation plants may be spared for production of oxygen.Consultationhave beenheld withpotentialindustrialunitsandexperts. 2.42 p.m. IST . 1605. Import of Oxygen Concentrators for personal use included in exempted category list - Ministry of Commerce & Industry
The Government has included import of oxygen concentrators for personal use, through post, courier or e-commerce portals, in the list of exempted categories, where Customs clearance is sought as ''gifts". This exemption is valid till 31 July 2021. A notification issued by Directorate General of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Commerce and Industry on 30 April, 2021 states that Para 2.25 of Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-20 stands revised for the purpose. 1.00 p.m. IST .
