Mumbai 18/04/2014 Picture for Variety page. Indias first ever double-decker flyover was thrown open to the public in Mumbai on Friday. The Santa Cruz- Chembur Link Road connects the eastern and western suburbs of the city, reducing commuting time from around 60 minutes to 10 minutes. Known as one ofthe most delayed infrastructure projects, the road was set to open in 2004. The BJP had opposed the inauguration of the project at this time, alleging that it was a gimmick employed by the Congress to earn votes. There was no fanfare around the opening, due to the model code of conduct. Photo: Vivek Bendre
